Gene Rv0819
in Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv
General annotation
Type | CDS |
Function | Involved in the fourth step of mycothiol biosynthesis |
Product | GCN5-related N-acetyltransferase, MshD |
Comments | Rv0819, (MTV043.11), len: 315 aa. MshD, acetyltransferase involved in mycothiol synthesis (see Koledin et al., 2002). Contains two GNAT (Gcn5-related N-acetyltransferase) domains. See Vetting et al. 2003, 2005, 2006. Equivalent to U2266N|U15182|MLU15182_24 hypothetical protein from Mycobacterium leprae (312 aa), FASTA scores: opt: 1540, E(): 0, (75.2% identity in 314 aa overlap). Also highly similar to CAB88484.1|AL353816 putative acetyltransferase from Streptomyces coelicolor (309 aa). |
Functional category | Intermediary metabolism and respiration |
Proteomics | Identified by mass spectrometry in whole cell lysates of M. tuberculosis H37Rv but not the culture filtrate or membrane protein fraction (See de Souza et al., 2011). |
Mutant | Non-essential gene for in vitro growth of H37Rv in a MtbYM rich medium, by Himar1 transposon mutagenesis (see Minato et al. 2019). Disruption of this gene provides a growth advantage for in vitro growth of H37Rv, by analysis of saturated Himar1 transposon libraries (see DeJesus et al. 2017). Non essential gene by Himar1 transposon mutagenesis in H37Rv strain (see Sassetti et al., 2003). Required for survival in primary murine macrophages, by transposon site hybridization (TraSH) in H37Rv (See Rengarajan et al., 2005). Essential gene for in vitro growth of H37Rv, by Himar1 transposon mutagenesis (See Griffin et al., 2011). Check for mutants available at TARGET website |
