Gene Rv3378c
in Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv
General annotation
Type | CDS |
Function | Produces isotuberculosinol (nosyberkol) from halimadienyl diphosphate. Production of tuberculosinol has also been shown by some. |
Product | Diterpene synthase |
Comments | Rv3378c, (MTV004.36c), len: 296 aa. Diterpene synthase. Note that this ORF and the downstream ORF MTV004.35c have a significantly lower GC bias than the rest of the genome. This region is a possible MT-complex-specific genomic island (See Becq et al., 2007). Cofactor: Mg2+. |
Functional category | Intermediary metabolism and respiration |
Mutant | Non-essential gene for in vitro growth of H37Rv in a MtbYM rich medium, by Himar1 transposon mutagenesis (see Minato et al. 2019). Non-essential gene for in vitro growth of H37Rv, by analysis of saturated Himar1 transposon libraries (see DeJesus et al. 2017). Essential gene for in vitro growth of H37Rv, by Himar1 transposon mutagenesis (See Griffin et al., 2011). M. tuberculosis CDC1551 transposon mutant fails to prevent phagosome maturation and acidification in bone marrow macrophages from BALB/c mice; mutant shows reduced survival in these macrophages (See Pethe et al., 2004). M. tuberculosis CDC1551 Rv3377c-Rv3378c mutant does not produce halimadienyl diphosphate or nosyberkol (See Mann et al., 2011). Check for mutants available at TARGET website |
