Gene Rv0117
in Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv
General annotation
Type | CDS |
Function | Could effect functions of OXYR during evolution. |
Product | Oxidative stress response regulatory protein OxyS |
Comments | Rv0117, (MTV031.11), len: 314 aa. OxyS, oxidative stress response protein regulatory protein, LysR family (see citation below). Similar to many transcription regulators and OxyR, the oxidative stress response protein of many bacteria. Contains LysR family signature at N-terminus. Also contains helix-turn-helix motif at aa 16-37 (Score 1543, +4.44 SD). Belongs to the LysR family of transcriptional regulators. OXYR is required for the induction of a regulon of hydrogen peroxide inducible genes such as catalase, glutathione-reductase, etc. |
Functional category | Regulatory proteins |
Proteomics | Identified by mass spectrometry in M. tuberculosis H37Rv-infected guinea pig lungs at 90 days but not 30 days (See Kruh et al., 2010). Identified by mass spectrometry in whole cell lysates of M. tuberculosis H37Rv but not the culture filtrate or membrane protein fraction (See de Souza et al., 2011). |
Mutant | Non-essential gene for in vitro growth of H37Rv in a MtbYM rich medium, by Himar1 transposon mutagenesis (see Minato et al. 2019). Non-essential gene for in vitro growth of H37Rv, by analysis of saturated Himar1 transposon libraries (see DeJesus et al. 2017). Non essential gene by Himar1 transposon mutagenesis in H37Rv and CDC1551 strains (see Sassetti et al., 2003 and Lamichhane et al., 2003). Check for mutants available at TARGET website |
